Jim Wheeler, M.D.
Dr. Wheeler founded the Practice in 1979. Hundreds of patients trust Dr. Wheeler as a five star provider. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. He earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama Medical Center, Birmingham, Alabama. He completed his internship at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles County Hospital. Dr. Wheeler completed residencies in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts and in Family Practice at UCLA. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Family Practice and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Wheeler has served as Chairman of the Department of Family Medicine at Northside Hospital. He was a Clinical Instructor at Emory University School of Medicine.
C. Steven Schramm, M.D.
Dr. Schramm joined the Family Practice Center in 1987 and became a partner in 1992. Dr. Schramm graduated from Harvard College and then earned his medical degree from Rutgers University, Piscataway, New Jersey. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. Dr. Schramm completed a Family Practice Residency at the University of South Carolina, Columbia, South Carolina. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Family Medicine and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He is the former Chief of Northside Hospital’s Family Practice Department. Dr. Schramm has consulted for JMJ Technologies and compiled its first Family Database for an Electronic Medical Record (EMR). In May 2001, Dr. Schramm was nominated for the physicians category for the Georgia Health Care Heroes Awards. In June 2016, Dr. Schramm was chosen by his peers as a Top Atlanta Doctor.
Tyler Wheeler, M.D.
Dr. Wheeler joined Family Practice Center in 2014. Dr. Wheeler specializes in family medicine, with an emphasis on sports medicine and dermatology. He is board certified in both family and sports medicine. He completed his undergraduate degree at Sewanee: The University of the South, and medical school at Mercer University School of Medicine. As a medical student, he was elected by his peers into the Gold Humanism in Medicine Society, and was awarded the Service to the Family of Man Award by Mercer’s department of Family Medicine in recognition of his humanistic and academic achievements. Dr. Wheeler completed his Family Medicine residency at the University of Washington, consistently among the top Family Medicine departments in the Country. During his time at UW, Dr. Wheeler earned an area of concentration certificate in Dermatology and was again awarded for his outstanding bedside manner. After residency, he completed a one-year sports medicine fellowship at the Family Medicine Residency of Idaho, where he served as one of several team physicians for Boise State University Athletics. Dr. Wheeler is trained in musculoskeletal ultrasound, which he uses to help make diagnoses and to improve accuracy of injections. He has lectured on screening to prevent sudden cardiac death in young athletes, and has published articles on Post-Concussion Syndrome and MRSA in sports.
Missy Keith, RN, BSN, MSN, FNP-C
Missy Richardson Keith, Family Nurse Practitioner, joined Family Practice Center in 1988. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University. She began her nursing career working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Northside Hospital. She then earned a Master of Nursing and a Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Emory University. Since 1992, Missy has been on staff as a clinical preceptor at Emory University School of Nursing. She also continues clinical privileges at Northside Hospital. Missy is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Greg Kibler, PA-C
Greg joined Family Practice Center in 1983. He is a graduate of the Citadel. He also spent four years in active duty with the United States Navy before attending and graduating from the Physician Assistant Program at the Medical College of Georgia in 1981. He was board certified through the NCCPA and worked with the Department of Kidney Transplantation at Talmadge Hospital.
Lisa Armstrong-Culpepper, RN, MSN, NP-C
Lisa Culpepper joined Family Practice Center in 2007. Lisa is a board certified Adult Nurse Practitioner accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She received a Bachelor’s in Biology at Rhodes College. She then went to Vanderbilt University where she received both her Registered Nursing degree as well as her Master of Nursing degree. Lisa has previously worked in cardiology at Piedmont Heart Institute as well as in cardiothoracic surgery with Peachtree Cardiovascular.
Ellen Bishop, RN, MSN, FNP-BC
Ellen Bishop is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She received her BA from George Washington University in Washington DC. She then received her BS and MS from Regis College.
Ellen relocated to Atlanta from Boston in 2015. She began her Nursing career at Massachusetts General Hospital and later worked at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates. She was on the faculty at Boston College in the Connell School of Nursing, and served on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners.
Rachel Simpson, RN, MSN, FNP-BC
Rachel joined Family Practice Center in June of 2016. She is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She received her BA from George Washington University in Washington, DC. She then went on to receive her masters from Mercer University in Atlanta. Rachel is a native of Atlanta, and so happy to be back in her home town practicing medicine with Family Practice Center. In her free time, she likes spending time with her husband rock climbing.
