Welcome to the latest entry in our ongoing Spotlight Family Medicine Provider of the Month blog series. We are always so excited to educate our patients about the wonderful providers in our medical family. Each of our board-certified family medicine providers brings their own unique skills and experience that make our practice more well-rounded and knowledgeable as a whole. This month, we are delighted to present one of the newest additions to our medical team, Dr. Leah Macklin.
Leah Macklin, D.O. is currently available to see patients at our Family Practice Center Cumming location. Dr. Macklin is board-certified in both Family Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine. She sees patients in all areas of family medicine including women’s health, skin conditions, joint pain, diabetes, and hypertension, however, she specializes in treating and preventing chronic conditions with lifestyle changes. She uses her unique goal-oriented process to assist patients to improve their overall health and wellness with the help of physical activity, healthier eating, and other positive lifestyle adjustments. Dr. Macklin is leading weekly weight management series starting this month with the help of plant-based health coach, Shobha Swamy (Contact us at groupvisit@familypracticecenterpc.com or 470-215-1920 for more information on dates, fees, any questions, or to reserve your spot today). She also performs osteopathic manipulative medicine, which is like a chiropractor, but with a focus on muscles, nerves, and joints.
Dr. Macklin earned her undergraduate and master’s degrees from Georgia State University here in Atlanta. She then attended medical school at the Georgia campus of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM-GA) before completing her residency in Family Medicine in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She is board-certified by the American Board of Family Practice, the American Osteopathic Board of Family Practice, and the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine. Ella Habla español is available to see patients six years of age and older.
