Flu vaccines are in at FPC! With flu season just around the corner, we’ve got you covered!
Did you know that each year up to 20 % of the US population gets sick with the flu? The flu may seem like no big deal, but it can result in serious health complications like pneumonia and worsening of preexisting health conditions. It also results in over 30 million doctor visits and 200,000 hospital admissions every year.
Some groups of people are at especially high risk for complications from the flu which is why preventative medicine is so important.
Groups At High Risk in Flu Season
- pregnant women
- people with chronic conditions like asthma
- heart disease
- and diabetes
- adults 65 and older
- and children less than five
For these reasons, the CDC recommends that everyone six months and older get vaccinated to protect themselves and their loved ones from the flu.
Can you get the flu from the flu vaccine? No, at worst, you may experience some soreness and redness at the site of the injection for a couple of days afterwards.
The good news is most insurance companies cover the flu vaccine at 100%. Make sure to ask your Family Practice Center provider at your next appointment if the flu vaccine is the right choice for you.
