Your Care Path

What to Expect at Your Dermatology Visit

Your dermatology visit is focused on understanding your skin concerns and guiding next steps with clear, personalized care. Our team makes the process feel thorough, supportive, and easy to follow.

Step 1 Schedule Your Skin Evaluation

Call your nearest Family Practice Center location or book online. Let us know the nature of your concern so we can allocate the right amount of time for your visit.

Step 2 Meet With Your Provider

Your provider will perform a visual examination of the area of concern and, if indicated, a full-body skin check. Be prepared to discuss any changes in moles, new growths, or persistent skin issues.

Step 3 Diagnosis and Treatment

Based on the evaluation, your provider will recommend a treatment plan that may include topical or oral medications, in-office procedures such as cryotherapy or biopsy, or a referral to a specialist for more complex cases.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions

Most dermatology consultations take 20 to 30 minutes. Initial visits may take longer if we need time for a detailed assessment and discussion of treatment options.

We recommend a full skin evaluation as part of your annual physical exam. If you have a personal or family history of skin cancer, or if you have many moles or sun-damaged skin, your provider may recommend more frequent checks.

Our providers can remove certain skin cancers in the office through excision procedures. For more complex or advanced cases, we will refer you to a board-certified dermatologist or oncologist for specialized treatment.

Watch for changes in the size, shape, or color of any mole or mark over time, or the appearance of a new blemish that does not heal. Bring any concerns to your provider during your visit, including at your annual physical. Early detection is key to successful treatment.
