What Exactly is Telemedicine?
For anyone not familiar with this term, Telemedicine describes the use of an electronic communications tool to exchange medical information from one site (a healthcare provider) to another (a patient). Although Telemedicine has been around for over 50 years, today it is more helpful than ever thanks to breakthroughs like smart phones and other mobile video devices. To put it simply, Telemedicine allows our patients to consult with us from the comfort of their own homes.
How Will Telemedicine at Family Practice Center Work?
Here at Family Practice Center, Dr. Tyler Wheeler will be available for Telemedicine appointments. In order to schedule an eVisit™ with Dr. Tyler, patients must be existing Family Practice Center patients who have visited us for a standard in-office appointment within the last year. Once log-in to the eVisit™ app (via mobile device or computer) during your specific appointment time, you will be connected with Dr. Tyler and able to discuss anything that you would during a normal visit to our office including chronic conditions, one-time injuries, and more in a secure and private environment.
What are the Advantages of a Telemedicine Appointment?
Telemedicine appointments allow our patients to enjoy several advantages. They are simple, convenient, and perfect for patients who just have a simple question or concern that they would like addressed. Instead of thinking of Telemedicine appointments as a replacement for standard doctor’s visits, think of them as a convenient way to supplement your normal healthcare routine. Telemedicine visits can also be helpful for patients who need a quick prescription refill issued.
